This combo for sale at a special price consists of 1 Tatami mat and a Futon mattress. The Futon is 10 cm smaller than the Tatami base so as to let the intricate and beautiful weave of the tatami remain visible for 5 cm on either side.
The combination of tatami and futon offers an excellent Japanese bed.
This way of sleeping is common in Japan where the home interiors consist maily of open spaces used for more than one purpose. During the day, the futon can be rolled up and the area used otherwise. Moreover the tatami and the pure cotton futon offer the perfect degree of firmness and support needed for a good nights sleep.

Characteristics of the Tatami

The high quality of the tatami is distinguishable by the double weaving visible on the front as well as the back side. Thus the tatami has a thickness of 5,5 cm.

Composition and characteristics of the Futon Mattress

Our Futon Cotton & Latex Comfort is a completely natural mattress. The batting consists of 3 layers pure carded cotton, followed by a 4 cm thick layer of latex and 3 more layers of carded cotton. The latex insert offers a pleasant support which adapts to the body and ensures a higher longevity of the futon. The quilted mattress cover with a total height of 14 cm is made of pure cotton. To protect the outside of your futon you can order an additional removable cotton cover in the Accessories section.

Care and Maintenance

To ensure that you can enjoy your futon for a long time you should turn it occasionally. This is especially important during the initial phase of use to encourage a uniform pressure on the cotton layers so that they keep their original form. To clean the mattress, we suggest to vacuum it from time to time. More resistant stains can be treated with stain removers. It's best to avoid the use of water. Further we suggest to fold the futon periodically (i.e. at the change of season) and spread it outside or in an airy room allowing possible absorbed moisture to escape.

Its best to clean the tatami with a vacuum cleaner.
