Product features

Futon Cotton Comfort is made of 8 layers pure carded cotton and offers a comfortable medium firm lying comfort.

Futon-mattresses are especially appreciated for their versatility. In Japan futons are spread on tatami-floors for sleeping at night and during the day they are rolled up to allow to use the area otherwise. Futons can very well also be used in beds with slat frames or tatami.

Maintenance and care

Futons are quilted mattresses so the cover cannot be removed. Possible stains must be removed with a dry detergent. To protect the Futon from stains and dust, we recommend to add the removable cover with a zipper which opens on three sides. You will find this in the Accessories section. The removable cover is made of the same material as the futon cover and can be ordered in a different colour.

Further we recommend to turn the futon over from time to time, so that the cotton layers maintain their density. The futon should also occasionally be rolled up and put to air out, so that the humidity which may have been absorbed from the air can escape. It´s best to repeat this operation at every change of season.

Durability of the futon

In Arpel we only use virgin cotton for the batting of our futons. With recycled cotton we wouldn´t be able to guarantee the desired quality of the fibre, as it is often too worn out. With proper care and maintenance, an Arpel futon will last up to 10 years.
