High quality japanese futons are mostly appreciated because they are completely natural and extremely versatile. In Japan it's very common to spread the futons on a tatami floor in the evening to sleep and roll them up in the morning to use the area otherwise.
With our Futon Virgin Wool and Coconut you can now indulge in the harmonious fusion of virgin wool and coconut fibers, thoughtfully combined to create a sleep experience like no other.
The batting of our Futon Wool & Coconut mattress consists of 6 layers of carded wool and an internal layer of breathable rubberized coir which together offer a medium firm support: the core layer of coconut fiber offers a very firm support while the layers of wool add extra comfort because they adapt to the body's contours relieving stress in the most common pressure points.
The filling of this futon is symmetrical. This means that it can be turned without changing the degree of comfort and support.

Designed to stand the test of time, our Futon Virgin Wool and Coconut requires minimal maintenance to maintain its shape and appeal.
Japanese futons have the distinction of being quilted mattresses and are therefore not removable, so any stains should only be cleaned with stain removers.
To better protect the Futon we recommend to add the removable cover with a zipper which opens on three sides. You will find this in the Accessories section. The removable cover is made of the same material as the stitched cover and can be ordered in a different color.
We also recommend turning the futon from time to time to ensure regular compression of the wool layers and to keep the density of the layers uniform. You should also occasionally fold your futon and leave it to air out, so that the humidity which may have been absorbed from the air can escape. It's best to perform this operation at least 4 or 5 times a year.
Arpel mattresses are made of high-quality materials and will last up to 10 years with proper care and maintenance.
