This combo at a special price consists of 2 Tatamis which are placed next to each other to form a base for the Futon Cotton Comfort mattress. It's available in several double bed sizes. The combination of tatami and futon make up an excellent Japanese bed. This way of sleeping is common in Japan where it is appreciated for the possibility to roll up the futon during the day to use the room otherwise. Moreover the tatami and the pure cotton futon offer the perfect degree of hardness and support needed for a good nights sleep.
If you want to complete your bed with a beech wood frame have a look at Haru Platform Bed.
Width of tatami base: 180 cm. The bedding surface includes two tatamis 90 cm each.
Width of futon: 140 or 180 cm
Length of tatami: 200 cm
Length of futon: 200 cm
Height of tatami: 5,5 cm
Height of futon: 13 cm
If you wish to allow a part of the tatami weave to remain visible on both sides of the bed (as shown in the gallery) choose a futon that is slighlty smaller than the tatami base. For example, choose a 140 cm wide futon to leave 20 cm of the tatami visible on both sides of the mattress.
The high quality of the tatami is distinguishable by the double weaving visible on the front as well as the back side. Thus the tatami has a thickness of 5,5 cm.
The Futon Cotton Comfort is a completely natural product. The batting consists of 8 layers pure carded cotton. Also the mattress cover with a total height of 13 cm is made of pure cotton. To protect the outside of your futon you can order a cotton cover in Accessories.
To guarantee a long life to your futon, you should turn over it occasionally to not always sleep in the same point. This is especially important during the initial time of its use to encourage an equal pressure on the cotton layers allowing them to keep their original form. We suggest to vacuum the mattress it from time to time to remove impurities. For more resistant stains it's possible to clean the futon with stain removers. It's best to avoid the use of water. Further we suggest to fold the futon periodically (i.e. at the change of season) and position it outside or in an airy room to allow possible absorbed moisture to escape.
Its best to clean the tatami with a vacuum cleaner.
