Product features

Tatami is a typical floor covering in Japan, characterised by a beautifully textured straw weave, making it ideal for walking barefoot. A great advantage of tatami floors is that they have the unique ability to absorb moisture from the environment when it is too damp and release it when it is too dry. They also act as thermal insulators due to their thickness and the air contained in thousands of micro-fissures between the intricate straw weave.
Our high quality tatami mats are made in China and are 5.5cm thick. They are unique in that the weave is visible on both the top and bottom of the mat.

This special offer package consists of 4 rectangular 90x180 cm tatami mats arranged around a central 90x90 cm tatami mat.

Maintenance and cleaning

In very humid environments or at the change of seasons, it is a good practice to lift the tatami and leave it in a ventilated room or in the open air to remove any excess moisture that may have been absorbed. We advise against using detergents to clean the tatami. Instead, use a vacuum cleaner or steam cleaner designed specifically for carpets and rugs.
