The design of this model is a masterpiece of cabinet making. The project is based on the idea of self-assembly of one's own bed by stacking the components around two big dowels. It's mainly designed as double bed. Slats and revolving bedside tables are included.
Availability date:
The japanese Stratos bed is equipped with particular feet that resemble flat stones.
The design of this project includes multilayer wood finishings that expose a laminated effect. Soft forms give this bed it's distinctive style. Each stone or layer is 4 cm thick and the feet are formed by layering several stones on top of each other. To make this bed higher or lower one must only add or remove a layer from the standard composition which includes 4 stones for each foot. At the 4 corners of the bedframe there are 4 big wooden dowels. Each element of the feet and bed frame has a round hole to allow it to be inserted on the dowel and held in place. The layering system applies also to the outer frame panels as they too must be inserted on the dowels to then rest on the feet. The panel at the foot of the bed rests on the side panels and at the head of bed we find the bedside tables and finally the headboard which closes the assembly. This bed belongs to the category of Arpel design beds.
Internal measures: variable. This bed is available as a french, double and king size bed. Because of it's particular form, it is not recommended as a single bed.
External measures: 50 cm more than the selected internal measures. For example: if the internal measures are for a mattress of 160x200 cm, the external measures will be 210x250 cm. In this example the bulk of bedside tables is not included. Because of the bed's particular form, these measures are to be considered as an indication. Even the measures of the feet may vary according to how you rotate the layers as they may protrude more or less from the bedframe, influencing the total space taken up by the bed in your room. We therefore recommend to consider an extra 10/15 cm to the size of the outer frame.
Length of the headboard and bedside tables: 250 cm
The bedside tables are suspended and revolving.

This bed does not belong in the category of metal free beds because the assembly requires the use of metallic parts. The headrest must be screwed onto the base.
If treated, the wood may be cleaned with a damp cloth without solvents or detergents. If natural, it may only be dusted or vacuum cleaned.
To complete the bed, choose a headboard or futon from the accessories. If you wish to sleep on a japanese mattress, find out more about our Futon, if you prefer a modern and ecological mattress, discover our Bio Memory.
